After Elon Musk purchase Twitter, it was making controversial headlines all over the world.
Twitter has laid off nearly half of its employees, Twitter will soon begin content monetization, and Twitter will no longer be free to use. To keep blue verification, you must pay $8/month. Advertisers are leaving Twitter, and Twitter is losing revenue and users.
So let me share my views on what was happening with Twitter.
According to the Internet world having a blue verification means you are special and you are the creator or some sort of STATUS. Now I think the verification has lost its value. The blue check mark indicates that you had $8, while the not indicates that you did not say who you are.
Elon Musk tweeted that in order to keep the blue verification, users must pay $8 for Twitter Blue.
Twitter Blue was the most useless Social Media subscription. If you pay for a subscription, you should receive some benefits. For example, if you subscribe to YT Premium, you will receive Ad-Free videos, YT Music, and background play. These are useful and what users like me are looking for.
YouTube has over 2.5B active users per month and had approximately 25M premium subscribers.
Twitter has an average of 450 million active users per month; how many of you do you think will subscribe?
Elon Musk also claims that Twitter should adopt a subscription model and that if users pay, they will be able to enjoy it; however, a social media company will never become a subscription that was previously free. Most of the Social Media giants also basically run with Ads.
I had explained my impression with Twitter Blue and Why I don’t recommend it to any one.
In some tweets and interviews, Elon claims that Twitter will begin content monetization more successfully than YouTube.
YouTube was the second largest search engine, with 2.5 billion monthly active users and over 15 million active content creators. YouTube also has a variety of revenue streams available to creators. Some people say Super thanks, super chat, memberships, and Advertisements are a large portion of YouTube and Creator pay. YouTube pays 55% of its revenue from advertisements and 70% from other sources to the creators.
So Elon should now consider how to better monetize than YouTube. As I mentioned in previous posts, YouTube is more than just a social media platform; it is also a search engine, an OTT platform, and a community.
Elon stated that with Twitter Blue, you could upload a 42-minute 1080p video and create monetization (once it was launched), but who will pay $8 per month? Until monetization, the percentage of viewers was very high. But this was not feasible, but I had faith in Elon’s abilities. Keep your 🤞fingers crossed🤞.
Moreover Elon Musk was planning to make Twitter just for subscribers.
I don’t think Elon Musk will do whatever he says. Where is the Cyber Truck, where are the Tunnels (boring company), and Twitter Blue will be one of them?
If you want to know What Elon do with Twitter?
Elon Musk claimed that he didn’t fire any employees after making the purchase, but he did fire Twitter’s CEO and two key executives. The following day, he let go of almost half of the team. He claims that because the company was losing $4M every day, firing was the only option. However, just yesterday, he was requesting with dozens of the senior executives to return.
So what exactly is the purpose of firing?
WHATEVER HAPPENS, I STRONGLY BELIEVE ELON MUSK’S VISION FOR TWITTER IS HIGH, and while it may not be liked by everyone today, I HOPE TWITTER WILL BE BETTER IN THE FUTURE.
